Our first day off in Safaga on the Red Sea

Our first day off in Safaga on the Red Sea. We're camping right by the sea, very windy, but beautiful. We've made quite a bit of progress:

Day 1: Outside Cairo to Ain Sokhna, 62 km
Day 2: Ain Sokhna to Ras Ghareb, 148 km
Day 3: Ras Ghareb to El Gouna, 137 km
Day 4: El Gouna to Safaga, 81 km

The route took us through the desert, vast asphalt roads with little traffic, and the drivers were all very friendly and cautious. The area is interesting but naturally not very diverse. Luckily, we had fantastic tailwinds for the past three days. With headwinds, it would have been quite a challenge.

Surprisingly, we spent the first two nights in a 'hotel.' In El Gouna, we camped by a beautiful small lake, and now we're by the Red Sea. Tomorrow, we'll continue inland, and in two days, we aim to be in Luxor.

The group is very diverse, with many people from the USA, Canada, Australia, as well as from Finland, France, the UK, the Netherlands, Egypt, Colombia, and Germany :-) The youngest cyclist is 28, and the oldest is 75 years old!!!
